A Girona travel poster standing in the middle of the river: painted houses in red, ochre, mustard and rose crowd both embankments, the cathedral and a tall bell tower rise over the rooftops on the left, and every colour above the waterline comes back broken and rippling in the Onyar below.
About the artwork
The print is split almost exactly in half — buildings on top, their reflection underneath — and the two halves are painted in completely different languages. Above the water everything is flat, hard-edged and architectural: facades in vermilion, burnt orange, buttercup and dusty pink, each one with its own line of shuttered windows, iron balconies, drainpipes and clothes-drying rails, and the taller blocks on the right cantilevered out over the stone embankment. Behind them the old quarter's roofs step up the hill, and the skyline is set by a wide Gothic church front with buttresses and pinnacles on the left and a square bell tower with an octagonal lantern beside it, with a wooded green ridge closing the gap. Below the waterline the same palette is chopped into short horizontal dashes of red, gold and blue-green that drift and stretch as they come towards you, over a body of teal river. Stone quay walls run down both sides in warm sandstone. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Spain beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Half the print is reflection. The lower field is pure broken colour, almost abstract on its own.
- Real facades. Balconies, shutters and drainpipes are drawn individually rather than suggested.
- Red against teal. Warm buildings over cool water, the reason the sheet reads from a distance.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This is the loudest print in the group and it likes a plain background: white, greige or a deep inky wall that lets the reds do the talking. It suits a dining room, a hallway or a stairwell where you pass it rather than sit under it, and it goes well with dark wood, brass and a single terracotta object nearby. Black frames hold the colour in; walnut softens it. Hang it beside the Madrid print for a Spanish city pairing that stays away from the coast.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Why does the water look striped? The reflection is painted as short horizontal marks rather than a mirror image, so the facade colours read as separate ribbons of red, gold and green in the current.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
