A Geirangerfjord travel poster from a clifftop ledge: grass and lichen-covered rock in the immediate foreground, then a sheer drop of a thousand metres to the fjord, which runs away between vertical walls as a narrow ribbon of dark water with snow-covered peaks closing the far end.
About the artwork
Everything here serves one idea: height. The foreground rock is drawn at close range with tufts of grass and lichen picked out individually, so the viewer is standing on it; from there the cliff face falls away with no middle ground at all, which is what produces the vertigo. The walls are worked in cold blue-grey with vertical striations and green ledges wherever anything can grow, and the light comes from the right so one side of the fjord is lit and the other is in shadow. The water is nearly black at the base of the cliffs, lightening as it recedes, with a single pale wake line drawn on it. Snow on the far peaks is the only white. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Norway beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- You feel the drop. Foreground rock and no middle ground — the composition does the work.
- Blue on blue on blue. A near-monochrome that stays interesting because of the values, not the hues.
- Grand without being empty. The lichen and grass keep the foreground alive.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Cool and calm, close to a blue-grey neutral, so it will not fight a room that already has colour. It suits a bedroom, office or stairwell, and works particularly well hung tall in a narrow space where the vertical drop is echoed by the wall itself. Natural oak and black frames both suit it. It pairs with the Lofoten print for a two-piece Norway wall — one high and cold, one low and bright.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Where is the view from? From a ledge high on the fjord wall, looking along the water toward the mountains at its head.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
