A Freiburg travel poster looking up a cobbled old town street: painted gabled houses closing in on both sides, a narrow water channel running down the middle of the paving, and the red sandstone minster tower rising at the end of it against the dark wooded hills.
About the artwork
Everything converges on the tower. The street runs from the bottom of the frame to the middle distance, drawn as grey and buff cobbles with the small open runnel of turquoise water threading down its centre, catching white where it steps. On either side the houses are the colour of the print: coral, mint, teal, ochre and cream facades with green and blue shutters, steep tiled roofs, awnings over shopfronts, window boxes and a Gothic-lettered sign painted across one arcade. Cast-iron lamp posts stand along the channel and dozens of small figures walk in twos and threes, which sets the scale. Behind the roofline the minster is drawn in warm red stone with a green clock face and an openwork spire, and behind that again the Black Forest hills rise in autumn greens and rusts. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Germany beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The little water channel. The runnel down the middle of the street is the detail that makes this town look like nowhere else.
- A street full of colour. Coral, mint and teal facades give you a print that can set a whole room's palette.
- Populated. Small figures and shopfronts make it a place rather than a monument.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This is the most colourful print of the group, so give it a quiet wall in white, chalk or pale grey and let the facades do the talking. It suits kitchens, dining corners and hallways, and works beside light oak, brass and simple ceramic. Pull one colour out of the street, the coral or the teal, into a cushion or a vase. A white or natural frame keeps it fresh; black frames make the red tower more dominant. Hang it with the other German old-town prints.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What is the small stream in the street? An open water runnel set into the cobbles, one of the channels that run through this old town, drawn here in turquoise down the centre of the view.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
