A faroe islands travel poster taken from high on a grass slope: a thin waterfall drops straight off a basalt ledge into the sea, a scatter of houses sits on the green shelf above it, and a coastline of layered cliffs runs away into the haze on the left.
About the artwork
The composition is built on a diagonal. Grass fills the bottom third — every blade combed the same way by the wind, acid green where the light lands and blue-green in the troughs between. Above it the land steps down in dark basalt ledges, and the waterfall falls as a single pale ribbon clear of the rock into the water. The village is small on purpose: a dozen roofs in white, oxide red and slate on a green apron, giving the cliffs their scale. Behind it the coast repeats itself cliff after cliff, the near ones drawn with horizontal bedding lines, the far ones dissolving to flat blue-grey shapes. The sea is deep teal, worked in short choppy strokes with a white surf collar where it meets the rocks. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Denmark beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Grass you can almost feel. The wind-combed foreground is what carries the print at close range.
- A waterfall going straight into the ocean. The detail that says North Atlantic and nowhere else.
- Green against deep teal. Two saturated colours doing the work, with no third colour to muddy them.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The green is strong enough to lead a wall, so give it room — an entry hall, a stairwell landing, or the end of a corridor seen from a distance. Cool white and pale grey keep the greens clean; a soft clay wall warms them down. It sits well with dark stained wood, wool and anything woven. Natural oak keeps it airy, black makes the cliffs read harder. Hang it with the Torshavn or Akureyri prints for a North Atlantic run.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Is this one exact spot in the islands? It is a composed view rather than a mapped location: a cliff-edge settlement with a waterfall below it, the arrangement you meet again and again along these coasts.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
