A Duomo di Milano travel poster from across the piazza: the cathedral seen at an angle in pale marble, its forest of spires and pinnacles standing against a clear sky, a wide expanse of sunlit paving running to the bottom of the frame, and small figures scattered across it.
About the artwork
The quietest composition in the batch and the most disciplined. Two thirds of the frame is empty — sky above, paving below — and all the incident is packed into a narrow horizontal band in the middle. That emptiness is what makes the cathedral read: the spires are drawn individually, dozens of them, each with its statue on top, and against a flat blue field they resolve as lace rather than mush. The marble is warm cream on the sunlit faces and a cool blue-grey in shadow, with the rose window and the bronze doors as the only dark accents. The paving is laid in as large pale slabs with the joints drawn, and a long soft shadow crosses the bottom corner. Palette: three colours, no more. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Italy beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Space is the point. The empty sky and paving are what let the spires do their work.
- Detail where it counts. Every pinnacle drawn, nothing else fussy.
- Calm blue and cream. One of the easiest prints in the series to live with.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The pale palette and the open composition make this a good print for a minimal room, and one of the few that will not look busy in a gallery wall. It sits on white, grey and soft blue walls and beside chrome as happily as wood. Thin black or white frames suit the graphic quality; ornate frames fight it. Go 16" x 24" or larger so the spires stay separate rather than merging into a grey band.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Where is the view from? From the far side of the square, looking across the paving at the cathedral's front and flank.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
