A Duluth Minnesota travel poster shot from a rock overlook high above the city, with basalt ledges and pine boughs framing the edges. The view drops away down the hillside, past red brick blocks and the grain elevators on the waterfront, to the steel aerial lift bridge across the ship canal, then out over the harbour to Lake Superior meeting the sky.
About the artwork
Dense, layered vector shapes built up in small facets, more like a painted illustration than a poster with big flat blocks. The palette runs cool: teal and steel blue for the lake and the bay, muted green and sage across the wooded hillside, blue-grey basalt in the foreground crags. Warm colour comes in narrow bands, brick red and rust on the downtown blocks, ochre in the dry grass on the ledge, and cream on the elevators and the taller buildings. The lift bridge is drawn as a fine white lattice with its span raised, small enough that it takes a moment to find, which is what gives the view its height. Type is set in white capitals reading DULUTH, with MINNESOTA below. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Real elevation — the rock ledge in the foreground makes the drop to the canal feel like a place you climbed to.
- Lake, harbour and city in one frame — few city prints manage all three without flattening them.
- Detail that keeps giving — grain elevators, dock cranes, the ore piers and individual brick warehouses are all in there.
- A North Shore gift — for anyone who watches for the lift bridge to go up.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — stretched canvas in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Teal water, sage hillside and grey rock make this a natural fit for the sage room in the photographs above, and it works equally well on warm white, stone grey or deep green walls. The rust and brick tones mean it also sits happily with leather, wool and dark wood. Natural oak or espresso framing suits the landscape reading; black framing pushes it toward the graphic. A good choice for a living room, a cabin, or a study with a map wall.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? This is the most detailed print in the set, so size up: 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" keeps the bridge, the docks and the brick blocks readable. Below 18" x 24" the downtown becomes texture rather than buildings.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas comes in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, ready to hang.
What does the poster say? The printed lettering reads DULUTH with MINNESOTA underneath. The bridge, the lake and the harbour are not labelled on the artwork.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

- Reads slightly softer than canvas.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
