This Dry Tortugas National Park watercolor print shows Fort Jefferson, a huge six-sided brick fort, sitting on Garden Key in clear turquoise water in Florida. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the fort, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines draw each row of arched openings and the brickwork of the walls, and clear turquoise layers reveal dark coral patches below. White paper is saved for the beach and light on the water. Turquoise and aquamarine shallows, red-brown brick and lawn-and-palm green lead the palette, with white sand and a black lighthouse as accents. The fort fills the center, seen from above as if from an arriving seaplane, with a black iron lighthouse on one corner bastion, the moat and seawall around it and a green parade ground inside. A ferry waits at the dock on the right, low islands sit on the horizon, and a white beach with palms fills the foreground. "DRY TORTUGAS" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Bird's-eye view. The elevated angle shows the full six-sided shape of the fort and its moat.
- Seaplane arrival. A seaplane on the beach, snorkelers on the reef and frigatebirds overhead tell the story of getting there.
- Glassy summer sea. Calm early-summer water in layered turquoise gives the print a bright, clean finish.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Aqua, brick red and white suit a coastal living room, a nautical guest room, or a bright office. A great gift for a snorkeler, a history buff, or someone who took the boat or seaplane out to the fort.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Dry Tortugas National Park? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Fort Jefferson and Garden Key, with the walls, beach and islands simplified for the composition.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "DRY TORTUGAS," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
