A Detroit Michigan travel poster set on the riverfront promenade, looking across the Detroit River to the skyline. A red coin telescope stands on the paving beside beds of red and white flowers and tall ornamental grasses, a pavilion column cuts down the right edge of the frame, and the cluster of dark cylindrical glass towers rises straight ahead.
About the artwork
Flat vector shapes with a fine speckled grain laid over the sky and the water, which softens the whole image. The palette is cool and steely: powder blue sky, petrol and teal in the river, and a deep blue-green on the mirrored glass of the tower cluster, with paler ice blue and white on the buildings behind. Two warm accents cut through it, a red-brick art deco tower with a green cap in the middle of the skyline and the vermilion telescope in the foreground. Concrete paving is drawn as pale grey slabs with visible joints, and the planting is picked out in coral, white and olive. Small white glints run across the river. Type is set in white capitals reading DETROIT, with MICHIGAN below. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Foreground you can stand in — paving, flowerbeds and the telescope put you on the promenade rather than looking down from a helicopter.
- Cylinders instead of boxes — the curved glass towers give the skyline a silhouette nothing else has.
- Two reds in a cool print — the telescope and the brick tower keep a very blue image from going flat.
- For riverwalk regulars — anyone who has walked the path on a summer evening will know exactly this spot.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — stretched canvas in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Petrol blue and pale concrete make this a cool, city-modern print, best on white, soft grey or deep navy walls. On the sage wall in the photographs above the olive grasses in the foreground link up nicely. Black framing suits the mirrored glass and gives it an urban edge; espresso or walnut warms it toward the brick tower and the coral planting. Good over a desk, in an entryway, or on a gallery wall with other North American city prints.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? 18" x 24" is enough for a desk or console wall. Go to 24" x 36" if you want the flowerbeds and the window grids on the towers to stay distinct rather than reading as texture.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas comes in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, ready to hang.
What does the poster say? The printed lettering reads DETROIT with MICHIGAN underneath. No buildings or signs are named on the artwork.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.

- Reads slightly softer than canvas.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
