A Delft travel poster down the length of a canal in autumn: a brick-paved quay and a half-bare tree on the left, a low white-railed bridge in the middle distance, and the dark spire of the old church rising over the gables.
About the artwork
The canal runs from the bottom right corner up to the church and organises everything else. Along the left is a broad quay paved in small setts, drawn in rows of warm grey and brown that catch low sun, with a white lamp standard, a parked car and a tree whose remaining leaves are copper and rust. Behind it a terrace of narrow houses with red pantile roofs steps away toward the bridge. The right bank is the richer side: deep red brick, tall white-framed windows, stepped and spouted gables, a door at water level and window boxes of red geraniums. A low two-arched stone bridge with a white balustrade crosses in the middle ground. Above it the tower stands in pale brick with a slate-dark spire, four corner turrets and a clock face, sitting just perceptibly off vertical. The water holds all of it in broken reflections. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Netherlands beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Autumn, not summer. Copper leaves and low light against red brick and blue water give it a warmth most canal prints miss.
- The tower leans. The spire sits slightly out of true, exactly as it does above the real canal.
- Paving drawn sett by sett. The quay in the foreground is as carefully worked as the buildings.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Red brick, rust and slate blue make it a warm print for a study, dining room or hallway, and it holds up on cream, stone, olive or deep blue walls. It suits walnut furniture, wool rugs and antique brass better than chrome. A walnut frame ties into the brickwork; natural oak lightens the whole thing. It pairs directly with the Utrecht canal print, or with Amsterdam if you want three Dutch views in a row.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Which church is at the end of the canal? The old church, recognisable by its pale brick tower, dark spire with four corner turrets, the clock face and its well-known lean.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
