A Dayton Ohio travel poster seen across the Great Miami River from a low sandbar. One tall slab tower of bronze-tinted glass rises well above everything else, catching the late sun on its west face. To its left sits the working city: a grain elevator, cylindrical silos, a thin smokestack and blocks of red brick mill buildings behind a pale concrete levee wall.
About the artwork
Flat vector illustration in hard-edged planes, with almost no line work — shape and light do the drawing. The palette is unusual and worth naming: a pale mint and cream sky, a dark olive-bronze tower with a gridded gold-lit face, brick red and putty for the mill district, silver-grey silos, and a wide band of olive-green river laid down in flat ribbons. A cream sandbar cuts across the bottom corner. Type is centred at the top in white capitals: DAYTON above OHIO. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A working river town, not a postcard skyline — silos, a smokestack and a levee sit in the frame alongside the tower.
- One dominant vertical — the bronze slab does all the work, so the composition stays calm and legible.
- Mint, olive and bronze — a muted palette that behaves well in rooms where a bright blue print would shout.
- For Miami Valley people — anyone who grew up along the levees or works downtown.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The mint sky and olive river make this one of the easier prints to place in a green or earth-toned room — the sage green wall in the photographs above is close to ideal, and the terracotta setting picks up the brick. On white it reads cooler and more graphic. An espresso or walnut frame echoes the bronze tower; natural oak keeps it light.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The mill district holds a lot of small detail, so 18" x 24" is a sensible floor. At 24" x 36" or larger the silos and brickwork stay readable from across a room.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, ready to hang.
What does the poster say? Two lines of white capitals against the sky: DAYTON, then OHIO. No other text is printed on the artwork.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
