A Cuenca travel poster of the hanging houses on the gorge rim: three tiers of dark wooden balconies stepping out over a cliff of bone-white limestone, a river far below on the left, and a domed tower catching the light behind.
About the artwork
Everything here is sun-bleached. The palette runs through bone, chalk, sage and dusty terracotta with only the pale duck-egg sky as a cool note, and it gives the print an unusually quiet feel for a cliff-edge subject. The houses are cream and sand-coloured with pantile roofs, and the cantilevered balconies are drawn in dark warm wood, three floors of them jettied one over the other with every rail and post picked out. A tower with a slate spire and a small lantern rises at the top right corner. Below the houses the gorge is done in fine hatching: eroded pinnacles, slabs and ledges of limestone, spattered with dark green pines, juniper scrub and dry gold grass. A thin blue-green river threads the canyon floor, and beyond it flat-topped hills recede into lilac haze under thin cloud. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Spain beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Balconies over a cliff. The hanging houses drawn tier by tier, right on the edge of the drop.
- A gorge in fine linework. Limestone hatched rather than blocked in, so it rewards close looking.
- Bone, sage and dusty pink. A soft, sun-faded palette that sits quietly in a room.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The muted colours make this an easy print to live with, and it suits a bedroom, a home office or a hallway where a brighter poster would be too much. Warm white, greige and pale clay walls are its natural setting, and it holds up beside linen, jute and rough plaster. Natural oak and pale ash frames match the limestone, while dark walnut gives it more weight if the wall is very light. It sits well next to the Rocamadour print, the same story told in French stone.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What is the water at the bottom left? The river running through the gorge below the town, drawn as a narrow blue-green thread between the limestone walls.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
