Wizard Island sits low in the middle of the water in this vintage Crater Lake National Park print. The view drops from the caldera rim through dark firs on a rocky slope, out across a lake so blue it reads almost violet, to the snow-streaked peaks standing along the far wall.
Why you'll love it
- Painted in the golden-age national park poster style: crisp silhouetted conifers in the foreground, ridged rock faces and long flat bands of blue holding the middle of the poster.
- It names the exact place. Wizard Island on the caldera rim, Oregon, with the park date and the coordinates 42.94 N, 122.10 W set along the bottom edge.
- At about 1,943 feet Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the United States, filling the caldera left when Mount Mazama collapsed roughly 7,700 years ago. Wizard Island is a cinder cone that grew afterwards.

Styling it at home
Most of this poster is one enormous field of blue, which makes it unusually restful for a landscape and very easy to live with. It reads as a cool accent on warm white, greige or pale oatmeal walls, and it will happily anchor a desk or a stairwell. A thin black frame sharpens the horizon; natural oak softens it. Keep neighbouring frames small so the lake stays the widest thing on the wall.

Paper prints ship rolled in a rigid tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang with hardware fitted. Keep the print out of direct sunlight and wipe the surface with a dry, soft cloth.
FAQ
How is this different from the other Crater Lake prints in the shop? This is the Wizard Island view, with the location and coordinates lettered at the foot of the poster. The other Crater Lake designs show different views in mid-century, oil painting and watercolour styles.
Is a frame included with the paper print? No. Paper prints ship unframed; the framed options are the framed canvas materials.
