A conwy castle poster from the shore below the walls: a long line of round drum towers stepping away along the water's edge, battlements running between them, a rocky foreshore in the foreground, and a green headland across the pale estuary.
About the artwork
The drawing is unusually structural. Each tower is built from flat vertical bands of warm grey, sand and cool shadow, with the arrow slits, corbels and crenellations picked out individually, and because they recede in a row the print reads almost like a diagram of how the castle sits on its ridge. The nearest tower is cropped by the top edge, which pulls you right up against the wall. Below it the foreshore is the loose half of the picture: angular boulders in grey, ochre and violet-brown, wet sand catching gold, dark seaweed in the cracks. The water is a single flat sheet of pale blue with fine ripple lines and a band of gold reflection. On the right a strip of dry grass and rust-red scrub runs up the bank. The title reads Conwy Castle, with Wales beneath, in wide-tracked uppercase. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Eight towers in a row. A silhouette you recognise instantly, drawn tower by tower.
- Hard stone, loose rock. Two ways of drawing in one frame, and the contrast gives it life.
- Cool blue with rust accents. Restrained enough for a quiet room, with just enough warmth.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
A handsome architectural print for a study, landing or hallway, and the cool palette means it sits happily on white, chalk and slate-grey walls without fighting them. It works beside iron, leather and dark wood. Black frames suit the stonework; natural oak lifts the sand tones. It hangs well with the Edinburgh Castle and Portmeirion prints as a British castles and coast group.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Where is the view from? From the rocks on the estuary shore, looking along the outside of the castle wall rather than at the town side.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
