A Cloud Gate Chicago Bean poster shot low and close on the plaza in Millennium Park. The polished steel sculpture fills the middle of the frame, wrapping the Michigan Avenue skyline into a curved band across its belly, with the arch of the omphalos opening underneath. Real towers rise behind it and the granite paving runs out toward the viewer.
About the artwork
Hard-edged vector shapes with careful gradient banding on the steel, which is what makes the reflection read as metal rather than glass. The palette is cool and clean: deep navy and steel blue in the sculpture, slate and charcoal on the buildings behind, a bright cornflower sky and a single ivory cloud. The plaza is a warm counterweight in pale sand and cream, laid out as a grid of paving joints with a long shadow thrown from the sculpture. A white starburst glint sits on the upper right of the surface, and the reflected skyline inside the mirror is drawn as a separate miniature city, upside-down at the seam. Type is set in white capitals reading CHICAGO, with ILLINOIS below it. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Two skylines in one print — the real towers behind and the warped reflected city inside the steel.
- Cool blue with a warm floor — the sand-coloured plaza keeps a very blue image from feeling cold.
- An instantly readable shape — the curve carries across a room even at smaller sizes.
- A Millennium Park memory — for anyone who has stood underneath and looked up into the arch.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — stretched canvas in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This is a blue print with a sand base, so it belongs on cool walls: white, pale grey, or the sage green room in the photographs above. On a warmer terracotta wall the cream paving links the two, but the steel stays the focus either way. Black framing sharpens the reflection and suits a modern room; natural oak keeps it calmer. It reads well in a home office, a hallway, or paired with other city prints on a gallery wall.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The sculpture is a bold single shape, so it holds up small: 12" x 18" works on a gallery wall. For the reflected mini-skyline to stay legible, 24" x 36" is better above a sofa or bed.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas comes in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, ready to hang.
What does the poster say? The lettering reads CHICAGO with ILLINOIS underneath. The sculpture and the park are not named anywhere on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.

- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
