A Chimney Rock North Carolina poster looking across the Hickory Nut Gorge from the ledges opposite. The granite monolith stands off-centre to the right, its sunlit face pale and cracked and its shadow side almost blue-black, with pines rooted in every crevice. Below it the forested gorge drops away, and Lake Lure threads through the valley in a narrow blue line before the ridges stack up to the horizon.
About the artwork
Hard-edged flat shapes with dense hatched line work in the rock and foliage, closer to a woodcut than a smooth vector illustration. The colour range is wide but disciplined: cream and pale grey on the lit granite, deep teal and petrol blue in the shaded rock, a whole ladder of greens from black-green pine to bright summer canopy, cobalt for the lake, and progressively paler blue-greys for each receding ridge. Foreground slabs at the bottom carry pine saplings and their long shadows, and a small secondary outcrop sits in the trees below the main tower. The type reads CHIMNEY ROCK above NORTH CAROLINA in white capitals. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- One unmistakable shape — the monolith reads instantly from across a room.
- Blue Ridge haze done in steps — each ridge is a paler blue than the one in front.
- Texture in the rock — hatched cracks and ledges rather than flat grey.
- Lake Lure included — the two things people drive up for, in a single view.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Green and blue in equal measure, so it settles happily on a sage or soft green wall like the one in the photographs above, and it stays crisp on plain white. On a beige or clay wall the cream granite warms up and the print reads gentler. Natural oak suits the pines; a black frame emphasises the hatching in the rock.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The hatched rock texture and the small lake detail both improve with size, so 24" x 36" or larger where you have the wall. For a study or stair wall, 16" x 24" is a good middle.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship rolled and unframed. Matte canvas arrives stretched and ready to hang, and framed canvas comes in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What does the poster say? The printed text is CHIMNEY ROCK with NORTH CAROLINA beneath it, in white capitals. The words State Park do not appear on the artwork itself.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
