This Chichen Itza watercolor print shows El Castillo, the Temple of Kukulcán, rising over the Great Plaza with the Temple of the Warriors and the Great Ball Court on either side. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the Maya site, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines mark each terrace and stone block of the pyramid under thin, layered gray washes. The jungle canopy is a soft blur of green and yellow, and the edges melt into blue and yellow with drips at both lower corners, splatter and a white paper border. Limestone gray and jungle green lead the palette, with pale yellow-green grass and a clear blue sky. El Castillo stands at center with its steep stairway and temple on top; the stone columns of the Temple of the Warriors are on the left, and the long wall of the Great Ball Court with its stone ring is on the right. Fallen stones fill the foreground in the dry early spring. "CHICHÉN ITZÁ" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Iguanas up front. Two iguanas sun themselves on the fallen stones in the foreground.
- Three Maya landmarks. The pyramid, the Temple of the Warriors colonnade and the Great Ball Court share one wide view.
- Stone and jungle. Cool limestone gray sits against layers of soft jungle green.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Its gray and green tones fit a study, an office or a hallway with natural wood and neutral walls. A good gift for a history lover, an archaeology fan or a traveler just back from the Yucatán.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Chichen Itza? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Chichen Itza in a watercolor style. The view is a little higher than the plaza, and some small details are simplified.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "CHICHÉN ITZÁ," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
