This Chiang Mai watercolor print shows the ruined brick chedi of Wat Chedi Luang, with Doi Suthep rising behind. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Chiang Mai, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines trace each brick of the great chedi, washed in warm pink-brown and orange. A large frangipani tree is dabbed in green with white flowers left as paper, and an orange drip with violet-pink blooms runs down the lower left. The palette is old brick, leafy green and red-orange temple roofs, with saffron robes, gold roof finials and a red songthaew as accents. The chedi stands left of center with its broken top reaching into the upper sheet, a Lanna hall with layered red-and-gold roofs and curved chofa sits on the right, and a stone courtyard with small white stupas fills the middle. Doi Suthep rises in blue-violet behind, with a small gold spire at the summit, under a cool dry-season sky. "CHIANG MAI" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Stone elephants. A row of carved elephants rings the base of the chedi, with naga serpents on the stairs.
- Monks in saffron. Monks in saffron robes cross the temple courtyard.
- Red songthaew. A red shared taxi waits by the road outside.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Brick, saffron and green fit a meditation corner, a living room with teak and rattan, or a home office. It is a thoughtful gift for a friend who taught, volunteered or backpacked in northern Thailand.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Chiang Mai? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Wat Chedi Luang and Doi Suthep, brought into one view in a loose watercolor-and-ink style.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "CHIANG MAI," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
