A Chenonceau castle poster taken from the riverbank at first light: the long gallery standing on its arches straight across the water, the older keep and turrets stacked at the near end, and the whole building repeated upside down in a still, deep-blue river.
About the artwork
The lower half of the print is reflection, and that is the point of it. Above the waterline everything is precise — cream cut stone, blue-grey slate roofs pitched steeply, dormer windows with carved pediments marching along the gallery, a corbelled round tower with a conical cap at the left, and five arches carrying the building over the river, each pier ending in a pointed cutwater. Below the waterline the same building is broken into horizontal bands, the windows smeared into short strokes, the roofline wobbling where the current runs. On the left bank a balustraded terrace and clipped hedges sit above a low stone parapet, and dark trees close both sides in a green so deep it is nearly black. The colour range is tight: cream, slate blue, teal water, deep green, under a hard blue sky. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with France beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Half the print is reflection. The building is drawn twice, once solid and once dissolved into the current.
- Arches across a river. An unusual silhouette that reads instantly from the other side of a room.
- Teal, cream and slate. A formal, cool palette with no bright colour anywhere in it.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Formal and quiet, which makes it a dining room, study or hallway print rather than a kitchen one. It looks best against deep teal, navy or warm white walls, and beside polished wood, gilt, glass and anything with a bit of age to it. A gold frame answers the cream stonework; black works if the room is otherwise pale and modern. It hangs well next to the Gordes print as a French pair away from the coast.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Is the reflection really that large? Yes. The water takes the whole lower half of the design, so at the bigger sizes the mirrored gallery is as much of the picture as the building above it.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
