A chania travel poster taken from the water itself, looking across the old harbour to the tapered stone lighthouse on its rock mole, with the coral and ochre harbour houses standing along the sea wall to the left.
About the artwork
Two thirds of this print is water, and that is where the effort has gone. The surface runs from pale aquamarine in the foreground, shallow enough to show the shape of the bottom, to deep green-blue at the harbour mouth, drawn as long ribbons of ripple rather than a flat wash. White star-burst sparkles are scattered across it and broken reflections of the houses fall through it in coral and salmon. The lighthouse stands on the right: a slender stone tower, ochre and grey, banded, with a railed balcony, a lantern and a low arched door, set on a mole of dark tumbled rock. To the left the harbour front is a tight row of tall narrow houses in coral, salmon, ochre, cream and teal, with pantile roofs and small balconies, standing on a long stone sea wall. Pale blue mountains close the right-hand distance in two flat layers. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Greece beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Water first, town second. The harbour is the backdrop here and the turquoise is the subject, which is the reverse of most harbour prints.
- The old stone tower. Banded masonry, balcony and arched door, drawn in enough detail to hold a large size.
- Coral against turquoise. Warm facades and their broken reflections are the only warm notes in a cool sheet.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The coolest and wettest-looking print of the group, so it goes where you want the temperature dropped: a bathroom, a bright bedroom, a laundry or a shaded room that needs lifting. White, pale grey and soft blue walls suit it, alongside white ceramic, chrome or black metal and pale wood. A black frame sharpens the turquoise and stops it going sweet; white keeps it breezy. Give it a wall of its own rather than crowding it, and it balances the Rhodes harbour print across a room.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Why does the title on the print read Crete? The sheet is titled for the island rather than the town. The view itself is the old Venetian harbour and its lighthouse on the north-west coast.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
