A Cathedral Gorge State Park poster looking down a dry wash at the eroded clay walls that give the park its name: a tall buttressed spire on the left, ranks of fluted cream and terracotta pinnacles stepping back to the right, dark junipers wedged into the gaps, and a pale sand channel running out of the bottom of the frame.
About the artwork
Illustrated in dense painterly line rather than flat shapes, with every rill and vertical groove in the soft clay drawn individually — the surface texture is the whole point of this one. Colour runs from bleached bone and buff on the sunlit faces to rust, brick and dusty mauve in the shadowed folds, with muted olive junipers and a flat cobalt sky carrying small curled cumulus along the horizon. Type sits low: CATHEDRAL GORGE in wide white capitals, STATE PARK • NEVADA in a thinner line below. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Clay, not red rock — these are soft bentonite badlands that erode into cathedral fluting, quite unlike the sandstone arches and boulders of the rest of the desert Southwest.
- Texture at every scale — up close the whole surface breaks into fine vertical grooves; from across the room it resolves into a single carved wall.
- A warm neutral palette — bone, rust and clay, which is easy to live with and easy to frame.
- Quiet Nevada — the empty eastern half of the state, a long way from the neon.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The bone-to-rust range sits naturally on chalk white, oat or terracotta walls and pairs well with linen, rattan and unglazed ceramic. Natural oak is the safe frame; espresso pulls out the darker gullies if the wall is pale. In a home office it makes a calm focal point behind a desk, much like the stone-desk setting in the photographs above.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The fluting is the draw, so go large where you can — 24" x 36" and up keeps the grooves legible. At 12" x 18" it reads more as a warm textured block of colour.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, wired and ready to hang.
What does the poster say? CATHEDRAL GORGE across the lower band in white capitals, with STATE PARK • NEVADA set smaller underneath.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
