A Cape Breton Highlands poster from the headland: a footpath running out along a grassy clifftop, the Cabot Trail threading the slope above it, and the deep blue Atlantic breaking white against the rock several hundred feet below.
About the artwork
Height is the subject. The cliffs step away from the viewer in a receding chain of green headlands, each one paler than the last, and the road picks its way along them as a thin cut in the grass — the only straight line in the picture. The ocean is worked in two blues with white showing where the swell meets the base of the cliff, and windswept spruce lean hard inland in the foreground, bent by the weather they live in. Cumulus stacks along the horizon.
The sheet is the Canadian park service layout shared across this series: cream border, small dark capitals along the top reading NOVA SCOTIA · 46.73° N, 60.64° W · EST 1936, and CAPE BRETON HIGHLANDS at the foot in heavy condensed type over NATIONAL PARK, with the Parks Canada wordmark and beaver roundel. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- One of the great coast roads. The Cabot Trail is the reason most people come, and it is drawn here rather than implied.
- Trees that show the wind. The leaning spruce in the foreground do more to convey the place than any amount of blue would.
- Green against Atlantic navy. A traditional pairing that suits panelled rooms, studies and older houses.
- Maritimes ties. For anyone who drove the Trail, or has family down the Cape.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Deep green and navy give this print more weight than most in the series, so it can carry a wall on its own and it survives a darker room. Cream and warm white walls suit it; walnut and espresso frames match the spruce. It hangs naturally beside the Gros Morne sheet — two Atlantic parks, same cliffs, different colour of type.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed and fit standard frames. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What is the road? The Cabot Trail, the coastal highway that runs around the northern tip of Cape Breton Island. The banner along the top gives the park's coordinates and its founding year, 1936.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
