A Cambridge travel poster from the far bank of the Cam: the great perpendicular chapel with its pinnacled roofline and huge traceried window, the classical college range beside it, a wide green lawn running down to the water, and a wooden punt drawn up in the reeds in the foreground.
About the artwork
Late light, low and warm, hitting the stone from the left — which is why the chapel's buttresses read as three-dimensional instead of as a flat facade. The Gothic detail is drawn properly: every pinnacle, the tracery of the great window, the crenellation along the roofline, the regular rhythm of sash windows in the range beside it. Below, a band of mown lawn in two greens separates the buildings from the river, and then the water takes the bottom third — long vertical reflections in gold, green and slate, drawn as broken strokes so the surface moves. Small punts with figures sit mid-river. The one hard object in the near foreground is the moored punt, drawn plank by plank. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with United Kingdom beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The Backs, from the water. The view that means Cambridge to anyone who studied there.
- Honey stone and green lawn. A warm, settled palette with no shouting in it.
- The punt gives it a foreground. One near object turns a view into a place.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Warm stone, green and blue — close to a neutral, and one of the easiest prints in the batch to hang. It suits a study, a library corner or a hallway, and takes walnut and dark frames particularly well. It is the strongest graduation gift in the series alongside the Dublin print, and the two hang well together as a pair of university towns.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Where is the view from? From the river bank opposite the college, looking across the Cam at the chapel and lawns.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
