About the artwork

Amber gold on a golden tan ground, one ink throughout — the only state in the series where the ink colour and the nickname are the same idea. The engraving shows two cup-shaped four-petal poppies on long bare stalks above finely dissected, almost feathery foliage, with a pointed bud still closed on a third stem. A fern ornament fills the lower-left corner and the 1¢ denomination sits in a circle opposite. The perforated edge is drawn as real die-cut scallops on a plain cream sheet. Portrait, 2:3.

Styling it at home

Amber on tan is the warmest light in the series and it behaves like afternoon sun on a wall, which makes it a strong choice for a room that does not get much of its own.
