A Cadiz travel poster built on one long curve of defensive wall: massive dressed stone runs up from the bottom right corner, the Atlantic piles in against the rocks on the left, and beyond them the old town lies low and white with a gold dome and two pale bell towers standing over it.
About the artwork
The colour is the first thing you notice — the sky is a single flat sheet of strong cyan with no gradient at all, and the sea beneath it is worked in five or six values of the same blue, from near-black in the troughs to bright cerulean on the crests. Against that, everything built is warm: sandstone bastion, ochre boulders, cream and bone-white buildings. The wall in the foreground is drawn block by block, its coping stones catching the light, and it recedes in a shallow S along the shoreline past a squat square tower and a low fort out at the point. The cathedral sits at the centre of the skyline with a shallow ribbed dome in warm yellow, a smaller white dome beside it, two square bell towers with open belfries, and a row of streetlamps along the seafront in front of it. Surf is painted as flat interlocking shapes rather than spray, breaking over rust-brown rocks in the shallows. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Spain beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- One flat cyan sky. No gradient, no clouds — a graphic decision that makes the whole print snap.
- The gold dome. A single warm accent in a sheet that is otherwise blue and bone.
- Stone in the foreground. The sea wall gives the view a solid, heavy edge to stand behind.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Strong, saturated and slightly graphic, so it holds a large empty wall on its own — over a sofa, in an open-plan living room, along a wide landing. It looks best against white or a warm sand wall that lets the cyan stay loud, with brass, rope, jute and mid-tone wood nearby. Black frames suit its poster-like flatness; espresso picks up the rocks. Hang it with the Plaza de España print from Seville for an Andalusian pair, one facing the ocean and one deep inland.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What is the wall in the foreground? The city's stone sea defence, drawn as a broad sloping bastion of cut blocks that runs along the shoreline and holds the waves off the old town.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
