A Caddo Lake cypress poster taken from inside the maze, looking down one of the narrow water lanes that thread the flooded forest. Huge bald cypress stand in the water on both sides, their trunks flaring out into broad buttressed bases, every branch loaded with grey Spanish moss. The channel runs dead flat and dark ahead, holding the reflection of the trees and a gap of sky.
About the artwork
Painted in dense stacked layers rather than flat vector blocks. Depth is built by repetition: four or five ranks of trunks recede down the lane, each rank paler and cooler than the one in front, until the far trees dissolve into a blue-green haze. The bark is drawn in vertical fibres of rust, cinnamon and warm grey; the moss hangs in hundreds of separate strands from every limb overhead. Greens are stacked from bright yellow-green on the sunlit canopy through olive and sage to deep bottle green in the shade. Below, the water is near-black at the edges and opens into a band of slate blue reflection down the middle. A tall cream cumulus fills the gap of teal sky between the canopies. Lettering sits in the lower band in white capitals: CADDO LAKE, with TEXAS and LOUISIANA beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Two states on one sheet — the lake straddles the Texas-Louisiana border, and the poster names both rather than choosing.
- You are in the boat — the view is down a paddling lane at water level, not from a bank or an overlook.
- The largest cypress forest of its kind — the flooded, moss-hung woodland here is the reason people come, and it fills the frame.
- Green with real range — five or six distinct greens plus rust bark keep it from reading as one flat wall of foliage.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This is a deep, saturated print, so it wants a light wall to breathe — warm white, oat or pale sage. On a dark wall the far end of the channel will close up. Natural oak lifts the cinnamon bark; espresso leans into the shadows. It suits a hallway or a reading corner, much like the armchair and fiddle-leaf plant setting in the photographs above.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The receding ranks of trunks and the moss detail need room, so 24" x 36" or larger for a main wall. At 12" x 18" the far trees start to merge, though the foreground trunks still read well.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and rolled. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang in white, black, espresso or natural.
Which state is Caddo Lake in? Both. It sits on the border, with the western arms in Harrison and Marion counties in east Texas and the eastern end in Caddo Parish, Louisiana. The poster reads CADDO LAKE with TEXAS and LOUISIANA below it.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
