About the artwork

Painted in dense stacked layers rather than flat vector blocks. Depth is built by repetition: four or five ranks of trunks recede down the lane, each rank paler and cooler than the one in front, until the far trees dissolve into a blue-green haze. The bark is drawn in vertical fibres of rust, cinnamon and warm grey; the moss hangs in hundreds of separate strands from every limb overhead. Greens are stacked from bright yellow-green on the sunlit canopy through olive and sage to deep bottle green in the shade. Below, the water is near-black at the edges and opens into a band of slate blue reflection down the middle. A tall cream cumulus fills the gap of teal sky between the canopies.
