A Budva travel poster in late afternoon light: the walled old town sitting out on its own low peninsula, terracotta roofs packed behind sea walls, a slim bell tower above them, and a bare limestone range glowing apricot across the bay.
About the artwork
The town occupies the left third and is drawn tight: pale stone ramparts rising straight from the rocks, a dense field of orange and rust pantile roofs behind them, and one narrow campanile with a pointed cap standing clear of everything else. A clump of palms and dark pines breaks the roofline. To the right of the town a separate mass of pale citadel wall sits on a shoulder of rock, catching full sun on one face and dropping into blue shadow on the other. Beyond, the bay opens out and the mountains run across the whole width, their bare limestone flanks lit gold and creased with deep blue-violet gullies. The lower half is sea, layered in teal and cobalt strokes, carrying a broad spray of gold star sparkle and, in the near foreground, several rust-red rocks and pale boulders breaking the surface. Warm apricot against cold teal, with the red rocks tying the two halves together. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Montenegro beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Open sea, not an enclosed bay. The horizon runs clear across, which sets it apart from the fjord-style Montenegro views.
- Rust-red rocks in the foreground. An unexpected warm note right at the bottom edge.
- Apricot mountains. The bare limestone takes the low sun and turns the whole background warm.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The orange-and-teal contrast is strong, so give it a calm background: warm white, sand, pale putty or a soft clay wall. It works over a sideboard in a living room or above a bed where you want warmth rather than cool. Natural oak and walnut both pick up the roof tiles; black frames push the teal forward. It makes an obvious trio with the Kotor and Perast prints, and the difference is deliberate, this is the open Adriatic while those two look inward from the bay.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What is the tall tower? The bell tower of the old town, drawn as a slim square campanile with a pointed spire, the only vertical rising above the roofs.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

- Reads slightly softer than canvas.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
