A Japandi bonsai print for a bedroom that needs one calm, bright point. A large red sun hangs in a teal sky, a dark green pine bonsai stands on a rocky shore, and a red temple roof comes in from the right. The water below is flat cream, so nothing on the sheet moves except your eye.
About the artwork
The palette is built on teal, deep pine green, red and cream. The sun is large and red against the teal sky, the bonsai sits low on its rocks, and the red temple roof holds the right side, which leaves wide open space in between. The water is a flat cream plane with no waves drawn on it. Shapes are kept simple in a minimalist, Japandi style. A small red seal marks the lower left corner. Portrait.
Why you'll love it
- The red appears twice. Both the sun and the temple roof are red, so the color links the sky to the shore.
- A bonsai, not a forest. One small pine stands in for the whole landscape, which suits a room where you want less going on.
- Still water. The flat cream sea gives the lower part of the print a quiet, empty field instead of waves or detail.
- Teal instead of blue. The sky is teal rather than the usual pale blue, which sits easily with green bedding, oak and linen.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Hang it above the headboard in a bedroom with warm white or pale sage walls, where the teal sky reads as the main color and the red sun as the accent. Low oak or walnut furniture and off-white linen bedding keep the Japandi mood. At 24" x 36" it holds the space above a queen bed; for a narrow wall beside a wardrobe, 16" x 24" is enough. Pair it with a small bonsai in a ceramic pot on the dresser.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size works above a bed? For a queen or king bed, 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" fills the space above the headboard without crowding it. A 16" x 24" suits a smaller wall or a guest room.
Is there any lettering on this print? No words, only a small red seal in the lower left corner.
Which frame color suits the teal and red? A natural or white solid wood floating frame keeps it light and Japandi. Black gives the red sun more contrast, and espresso warms it next to dark wood furniture.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
