A Boldt Castle Thousand Islands poster composed from water level, the way you first see it from a tour boat. The stone castle sits alone on a low rock island in the middle distance with dark pines pressing against one wall, more wooded islands trail off to the left, and the whole lower half of the frame is open St. Lawrence water carrying a long gold reflection back toward the viewer.
About the artwork
Clean, restrained illustration with almost no texture in the sky and a lot of drawn line work in the river. The palette runs cool with one warm accent: a flat graded sky from teal at the top to pale cyan at the horizon, petrol and deep teal water ruled with fine ripple lines, black-green conifers on the islands, bare grey rock at the shoreline, and the masonry itself in honey and sandstone with slate blue conical roofs and spires. The title reads ALEXANDRIA BAY in white capitals with NEW YORK below it. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Boat-deck viewpoint — low, wide and quiet, which is exactly how the island reads on the river rather than from a garden path.
- One warm object — the honey stone is the only warm colour in an otherwise teal frame, so the castle holds all the attention.
- Ruled water detail — the ripples are drawn line by line and the reflection runs a third of the height of the print.
- Thousand Islands specific — for people who did the river cruise out of Alexandria Bay, not a generic castle print.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Deep teal takes up most of the print, which makes it restful rather than loud. It sits cleanly on white, pale grey or soft blue walls, and against the sage green room in the photographs above the greens in the pines line up nicely. A white or natural oak frame keeps it light for a bedroom; espresso framing brings out the sandstone.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The castle occupies a small part of the frame, so 18" x 24" or larger keeps the turrets and windows sharp. At 24" x 36" the open water becomes a calm block of colour above a bed or dresser.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed. Canvas is available stretched, or in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What does the poster say? The printed text is ALEXANDRIA BAY with NEW YORK underneath. The castle itself is not named on the artwork, so if you are giving it as a gift you may want to mention what the building is.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
