A black diamond op art print inspired by Yayoi Kusama: concentric squares twist into a diamond and pull toward a small bright centre on a cream panel, under bold type reading YAYOI KUSAMA.
About the artwork
The construction is strict — square inside square inside square — and then the whole stack is warped, so the outer rings bulge into soft diamonds while the inner ones stay nearly square. A tiny solid block sits at the middle and reads as the point everything is being drawn into. Because the warp is even on all four sides, the illusion works whichever way up you hang it. The text printed on the art reads YAYOI KUSAMA; 旋風; 草間彌生; OSAKA 1992, set as part of the design. This is an independent print inspired by the style of Yayoi Kusama. It is not an original artwork, reproduction, or licensed product, and it is not made by, sold by, or affiliated with the artist or their studio. Illustrative. Portrait.
Why you'll love it
- Quietest of the three. Geometric rather than gestural, if you want the look without the noise.
- Two colours only. Black and cream drop into any room without a colour decision.
- Part of a three. Two more op art prints in this style hang beside it as a set.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Symmetry makes it the easy one to place — centred over a bed, a desk or a console, where an off-balance print would nag. A white frame keeps it calm. It also works as the outer print in a row of three.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.

What does the text say? YAYOI KUSAMA, 旋風, 草間彌生 and OSAKA 1992, printed as part of the design.
Is this an official or licensed print? No. It is an independent print inspired by the artist's style, not made, sold or licensed by Yayoi Kusama or her studio.
Does it come as a set? Three op art prints in this style are sold separately and were drawn to hang together.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
