A Billings, Montana travel poster that puts the city where it actually sits: a small cluster of downtown towers standing at the foot of the Rimrocks, the sandstone cliff wall that runs along the north edge of town. Low sun catches the rock face in orange while the shaded gullies stay blue. A wide field of dry prairie grass fills the bottom third of the frame.
About the artwork
Flat vector illustration with fine vertical striations cut into the cliff to suggest the sandstone bedding, and hand-drawn grass blades in the foreground. The palette is warm rock against cool sky: burnt orange, apricot and rust on the Rims, petrol blue in the shadow, a graded teal sky, and cream and slate on the office towers so the city reads pale against the rock. A line of amber cottonwoods separates the buildings from the grass, and faint snow-topped ranges show far off on the left. Type is white: BILLINGS with MONTANA spaced beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The Rims are the point — the cliff line is what makes this skyline unmistakable in Montana.
- Scale you can feel — the towers look small against the rock, which is exactly how the city reads from the valley floor.
- Three clean bands — grass, city and cliff stack up simply, so the print stays readable from a distance.
- Warm without being sunset kitsch — the orange comes from the sandstone, not from a filtered sky.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — stretched canvas in a solid wood floating frame, in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Rust, apricot and gold give this print a desert warmth that suits earthy rooms. It sits comfortably on the terracotta wall in the photographs above and looks equally settled on clay, oatmeal or warm grey paint. Natural oak and espresso frames pick up the rock tones; leather, wool and unglazed pottery nearby suit it better than glass and chrome.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask

Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame, wired and ready to hang.
What does the poster say? BILLINGS across the top with MONTANA in smaller spaced capitals underneath. No other text appears in the design.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
