This Belém Tower watercolor print shows the limestone Manueline tower on the Tagus River in Lisbon, seen from the riverside promenade to the west. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the riverfront, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Careful brown ink traces each turret, balustrade and ribbed dome, with a light cream limestone wash and gray-violet shadows. The Tagus is swept in horizontal blue with white highlights, and oleander blooms are dabbed in pink. Belém Tower, with its four-story square tower and low bastion, fills the left half of the middle ground. The white, angular Monument to the Discoveries stands in the center background, and the red 25 de Abril Bridge and the Cristo Rei statue sit far to the right. A grassy lawn and stone steps down to a strip of sand fill the foreground in bright late-summer light. "LISBON" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Manueline stonework. Turrets, balconies and domed watchtowers are drawn in fine, careful ink.
- Red bridge accent. The red 25 de Abril Bridge adds a bright note far down the river.
- Gulls and sailboats. Two gulls fly over white sailboats on the wide Tagus.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
River blue, limestone cream and touches of pink suit a coastal living room, a bedroom or a breezy entryway. It makes a good gift for someone with Portuguese family or a friend just back from Lisbon. Pair it with our Lisbon watercolor print for a two-piece set.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Belém Tower? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Belém Tower and the Tagus, with the distant landmarks simplified.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "LISBON," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
