A Bamberg travel poster taken from the water itself: the old town hall standing on its own island in the middle of the bridge, a half-timbered wing hanging out over the current, and the Regnitz breaking white across the whole foreground under piled summer cloud.
About the artwork
Two thirds of this print is moving water, and that is the point. The river is drawn in flat cut shapes of steel blue and slate, with cream and pale gold used for the foam, so the rapids read as pattern before they read as water. Rocks and dry ochre grass break the lower left corner. Above the turbulence the town hall sits calm and symmetrical: a pale yellow baroque block with a domed clock tower and a weathervane, and grafted onto its side a red and white half-timbered house with a jettied upper floor and small shuttered windows. Stone arches carry the bridge away on both sides towards red pantile roofs and more timbered gables. The sky is a soft blue with tall cumulus lit warm on the underside. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Germany beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The rapids are the subject. White water drawn as flat shapes gives the print a graphic energy most town views lack.
- A building on an island. The town hall straddling the river is unusual enough to start a conversation.
- Blue, cream and ochre. Cool water with warm timber and roof tiles, so it never feels cold.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The blue and cream palette makes this a natural fit for rooms with white, dove grey or pale blue walls, and it works beside pale wood, brass and linen. The ochre grass and red roofs give a warm accent you can repeat in a small object rather than a large one. White or natural frames keep it airy; espresso frames bring out the timbering. It hangs well with the other German river-town prints.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Why is the building in the river? The old town hall was built on an island in mid-stream, so the bridge runs through it and the half-timbered wing overhangs the water.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
