An Auyuittuq National Park poster from the valley floor: a sheer granite spire standing above a braided meltwater plain, snowfields and glaciers filling the side valleys, and a field of grey erratic boulders scattered across the foreground.
About the artwork
Cold, spare and almost entirely rock. The palette runs from slate blue through pewter to bone white, with a single warm note in the pale ochre gravel of the valley floor, and the print carries no vegetation to speak of — just lichen and a few scraps of tundra between the boulders. The spire is the whole composition: drawn in hard vertical faces with the snow held on its ledges, it rises out of a shoulder of scree while the glaciers behind it are handled in flat pale bands. The braided river below is a fine web of pale blue channels across the gravel.
The layout is the Canadian park service sheet used across this series, with the type in steel blue: cream border, small dark capitals along the top reading NUNAVUT · 67.36° N, 66.01° W · EST 2001, and AUYUITTUQ at the foot over NATIONAL PARK, with the Parks Canada wordmark and beaver roundel. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- "The land that never melts." That is what the Inuktitut name means, and the print earns it.
- Big-wall country. The granite spires of Baffin Island are among the tallest sheer faces on earth.
- A cold palette that calms. Blue-grey and white, with no strong colour anywhere — restful on a busy wall.
- Coordinates on the sheet. 67.36° N, 66.01° W, established 2001, well above the Arctic Circle.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Slate blue and stone grey behave almost like a monochrome, so this print sits easily in a modern room and beside black and white photographs. White, bone and pale grey walls all work; black frames suit the hard geometry better than oak. A good office or study print, and one of the few in the set that looks right in a minimal interior.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed and fit standard frames. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Where is Auyuittuq? On Baffin Island in Nunavut, north of the Arctic Circle. The banner along the top gives the park's coordinates and its founding year, 2001.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
