An ARoS Aarhus poster built around one bright idea: the circular glass walkway on the museum roof, banded red through violet, floating above a solid block of brick, with the old town skyline low on the left and a wide lawn running to the bottom edge.
About the artwork
Roughly two thirds of the sheet is empty sky, a flat pale blue with almost no gradient, and that emptiness is the composition. Everything happens along a low band near the bottom. On the right the museum sits as a plain brick cube, drawn in three tones of red so the faces read as sunlit, half-lit and shadowed. The ring on top is the payoff: a continuous glazed loop in red, orange, yellow, green and blue, each panel a clean hard-edged shape, its underside catching a paler echo of the same colours. Left of it, older red-brick facades with dark tiled roofs and rows of dormer windows step down towards the horizon, small enough that you notice the individual gables only up close. The foreground is a lawn cut by pale paving in long geometric bands, deep green at the bottom, mint where the sun lands. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Denmark beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A rainbow used sparingly. The full spectrum appears in one narrow ring, so it reads as colour rather than clutter.
- Room to breathe. The huge plain sky makes this one of the calmer prints in the range.
- Brick red against sky blue. Two colours doing all the work, which is why it holds up from across a room.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The flat colour and clean geometry suit a modern room more than a cottage one: white, pale grey or soft mint walls, low-slung furniture, matte black or chrome details. A slim black frame reinforces the graphic edges; white keeps the sky feeling open. Because the top half is nearly empty it works well hung high above a desk or a sideboard. It sits happily beside other Danish prints such as the Egeskov Castle design, where the same brick red returns in an entirely different century.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Does the artwork say ARoS on it? No. The lettering on the print reads Aarhus with Denmark beneath, the city rather than the museum, so it works as a general Aarhus print too.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
