An Arctic Cathedral Tromso poster reduced to two triangles: the white A-frame church on the shore, and the snow-covered peak rising directly behind it, with a band of steel-blue water across the whole lower half.
About the artwork
The church is drawn as a series of shrinking triangular fins stepping back from the tall front gable, each edge crisp, each face a slightly different white so the roof reads as folded rather than flat. The gable itself is glazed in blue-grey panels with a slim cross set into the glass, and small windows glow warm at ground level. Behind it the mountain repeats the same shape at a larger scale, its snowfields drawn in pale blue and white with fine grey strokes marking the ridges and gullies, and a thin trail of cloud crossing it. Along the waterline sit blocks of piled snow and blue shore ice, a scatter of bare black trees, a low pale office block on the right and one small red house that is the only warm colour in the whole sheet. The water is layered horizontal strokes of dark teal and slate with short white glints. Cold, spare, and almost entirely blue and white. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Norway beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Two triangles, one idea. Building and mountain echo each other, which is the whole design.
- One red house. A single warm accent against a wall of blue, and you will look for it every time.
- Genuinely modern architecture. Clean lines that suit rooms where fussy prints would not.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Cold and architectural, so it does its best work in a study, hallway or a minimal bedroom. Put it on white, pale blue or deep charcoal walls; the blue-white palette also holds up against dark ink-coloured paint, which is unusual for a winter print. Black frames match the glazing bars; pale ash keeps it soft. Hang it with the Akureyri or Faroe Islands designs for a northern trio, or on its own where a room needs quiet.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What words are printed on the artwork? The title reads Tromsø with Norway beneath, the city name rather than the name of the cathedral itself.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
