An Appenzell travel poster looking up the pasture on a clear summer morning: four timber farmhouses scattered across a green slope full of dandelions, and two grey limestone peaks rising straight out of the meadow behind them into a hard cyan sky.
About the artwork
The meadow occupies the bottom half and it is drawn as a real surface, not a green field of colour. Grass runs in long diagonal strokes that follow the fall of the slope, lit yellow-green where the sun catches a ridge and blue-green in the hollows, with yellow dandelions and small white flowers thinning out as the ground recedes. Grey boulders sit half-buried in it. The buildings are the anchor: a green-shuttered chalet at the left, a red house with a painted and carved gable, a small barn with a green roof, and a larger farmhouse with grey shingles, green shutters and a red chimney. Behind them the rock changes register entirely, cool grey and blue-grey with a pale scree fan spilling down the right. Warm timber against cold stone. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Switzerland beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Grass you can read. The meadow is drawn stroke by stroke, so the slope has direction and light rather than flat colour.
- Red timber against grey rock. A small amount of saturated red carries the whole picture.
- A calm green wall print. Cool, open and quiet, which suits rooms you want to feel restful.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The green field and cyan sky make this an easy print for bedrooms and studies painted white, chalk or soft sage. It sits well with pale oak, wool throws and stoneware, and the red houses give you a colour to echo in a cushion or a lamp base. Light oak frames keep the alpine mood; a slim black frame makes the peaks more graphic. Hang it beside the other Swiss mountain views for a set.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What are the buildings in the meadow? Traditional timber farmhouses and a small barn, one with a decorated and carved gable, drawn as they sit on the open pasture below the peaks.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
