An Amsterdam travel poster of a canal in autumn: a run of gabled brick houses along the water, small boats moored under the trees, and the whole row breaking into reflection across the bottom half of the image.
About the artwork
Flat vector illustration, but built around a deliberate split — the top half is architecture drawn with hard edges, the bottom half is the same architecture dissolved into vertical ripple strokes. That contrast is what carries the print. The palette is brick red and rust against deep teal water, with ochre leaf clusters overhanging both sides of the frame and a soft cloud band opening in the middle distance. Step gables and bell gables are drawn individually rather than repeated, so the row has real rhythm. The title runs in wide-tracked uppercase with Netherlands beneath, and a thin white margin holds the image. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The reflection is the subject. Half the artwork is water, which is what gives it depth from across a room and detail up close.
- Warm reds on a cool ground. Brick against teal is an easy palette to build a room around — it works with wood, brass and cream.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The rust and teal combination is forgiving. It holds up on white and off-white walls where a cooler print would disappear, and it is one of the few travel prints that reads well in a home office or study, where the vertical detail rewards a close viewing distance. Oak and brass are its natural companions; avoid hanging it beside anything with a competing red. At 16" x 24" it works above a desk, at 24" x 36" above a sofa.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Will the fine detail hold at small sizes? The gables and window rows stay legible down to 12" x 18". Below that, the reflection detail starts to compress.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Damage, defects & care
Every piece is printed for you after you order, so we cannot take a print back for a change of mind — please check the size and material first. Our Size Guide shows every size drawn to scale.

Keep artwork out of direct sunlight. Dust paper prints with a clean, dry cloth; wipe canvas and framed canvas gently with a clean, damp cloth. Handle paper prints by the edges until they are framed. More care tips are in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
