An alcazar of toledo poster looking up the river gorge: the square fortress with its four corner turrets standing on the crest of a dry ochre hill, the old town packed in behind it, and the Tagus curving away below between rock walls.
About the artwork
Two colours carry the whole picture — burnt orange and teal — and they are pushed as far apart as they go. Everything on land is warm: apricot rock, rust roof tiles, ochre scrub, sandstone walls, with the hillside drawn in flat faceted planes so you read it as dry stone rather than soft ground. Cutting through the middle the river is a single ribbon of cool blue-teal with pale gold flecks on it, and the sky behind is the same teal family, which is what makes the town glow. The fortress is drawn crisply — battlements, the row of windows, the four pointed turret roofs — while the old town behind it dissolves into hundreds of small rust and cream rectangles that suggest depth without competing. In the right foreground a cluster of houses hangs right on the cliff edge with a balcony over the drop. The title reads Toledo, with Spain beneath, in wide-tracked uppercase. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Orange against teal. A two-colour print, which is why it holds a wall from across a room.
- The gorge does the work. One curve of river carrying your eye from foreground to horizon.
- Town drawn roof by roof. Hundreds of small tiles that reward standing close.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The warm rust palette makes this a good print for a dining room, study or hallway with cream, clay or warm grey walls. It sits well beside leather, terracotta and dark wood, and it warms a room that leans cool. Walnut and espresso frames deepen the ochre; a slim black frame sharpens the river. It hangs naturally beside the Segovia, Cuenca and Ronda prints as a central Spain group.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What words are printed on it? The poster reads Toledo with Spain beneath. The fortress on the hill is the Alcazar, seen from downriver.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
