An Albi travel poster seen from downstream on the Tarn: the old brick bridge carrying its arches across the water in the foreground, the fortress-like brick cathedral standing above the town, and terracotta roofs stacked down the slope between the two under a flat teal sky.
About the artwork
The composition is built in three horizontal layers and the eye climbs them in order. The lower third is river, drawn in dark teal and near-black green with flat ribbons of reflected light running across it. The middle band is the bridge: arch after arch of warm red brick, with a cutwater pier standing on its own stone island and a small tuft of grass growing on the cap. Behind it a second bridge crosses in shadow. Above that sits the town, hundreds of pantile roofs with shuttered facades and a dark line of trees along the quay. The cathedral takes the top of the frame, a plain brick wall braced by rounded buttress towers with one deep arched porch, and the bell tower to the right rising through pinnacles to a grey spire. Almost everything is brick red against teal, which is where the heat comes from. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with France beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Brick against teal. Two colours doing all the work, warm structure over a cool river and a cool sky.
- The bridge is the foreground. Its arches give the print depth that a skyline view on its own would not have.
- Drawn close up. Brick courses, shutters, the grass on the pier — detail that rewards standing near it.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The red-brick mass makes this a warm print, so it settles well on cream, clay and putty walls and beside walnut or oiled oak. Terracotta pots, unglazed ceramic and rust-coloured linen pick up the roofs. A natural oak frame keeps it soft; black frames sharpen the water and the sky. It reads as a pair with the other river-and-bridge views in the France prints, and sits comfortably in a hallway where you pass it closely.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What is the large building at the top? The red-brick cathedral of Albi, drawn from across the Tarn with its buttress towers and its separate bell tower to the right.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
