This Aix-en-Provence watercolor print shows the Fontaine de la Rotonde from above, with the plane-tree-lined Cours Mirabeau stretching away toward Montagne Sainte-Victoire. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Aix-en-Provence, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
The plane tree canopies are built from layered dots of green and yellow, and fine brown ink lines pick out the statues, the fountain and the iron balconies. The fountain water is turquoise with its jets left as white paper, and the left edge breaks into violet and yellow splatter with a drip in the lower left corner. Honey-colored Provençal stone, fresh leaf green and pale blue mountains set the palette, with lavender at a market stall and along the edge. The fountain sits in the lower center with three white female statues on top and bronze lions and fish riders around the basin, while honey-stone houses with iron balconies line both sides of the avenue. It is late spring, and the plane trees are in fresh leaf. "AIX-EN-PROVENCE" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Lavender market stall. Bundles of lavender are for sale at a stall in the lower right corner.
- Fountain sculptures. Three white statues top the fountain, with bronze lions around the basin.
- Elevated viewpoint. The scene looks down on the square, where cyclists circle the roundabout past a café under cream umbrellas.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The honey and green tones pair well with a sunny kitchen, dining area or living room with terracotta, olive wood and linen. It is a thoughtful gift for an art lover, a former exchange student in Aix, or anyone dreaming of Provence.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Aix-en-Provence? No. It is an artistic interpretation that brings the fountain, the avenue and the mountain into one elevated view rather than reproducing a single exact scene.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "AIX-EN-PROVENCE," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
