This Spoonbridge and Cherry watercolor print shows the giant steel spoon and glossy red cherry in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, with the Minneapolis skyline behind. It is a watercolor-style interpretation of the garden, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Fine ink traces the steel spoon, the glasshouse frames and the basilica towers, and the cherry is washed in red with a bare-paper highlight. The sculpture sits at center right, the spoon curving like a bridge across the pond and the cherry stem spraying a white mist. Lawns, hedges and a glass conservatory fill the middle ground on the left. The downtown Minneapolis skyline and the dome and towers of the Basilica of St. Mary rise behind on the right. Lily pads and purple coneflowers frame the foreground in high summer. "MINNEAPOLIS" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Cherry red focal point. The glossy red cherry is the brightest spot in the print and draws the eye first.
- Reflections in the pond. Red and steel reflections ripple across the blue water below the spoon.
- Family day out. Families take photos by the water and cyclists pass on the garden paths.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Its bright green and cherry red bring life to a kitchen, a playroom or a modern living room with white walls. It's a playful gift for a Twin Cities transplant, an art lover or a graduate heading home to Minnesota. Pair it with our Minneapolis watercolor print for a two-piece set.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Spoonbridge and Cherry? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the sculpture garden, and some buildings, like the conservatory, are drawn loosely.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "MINNEAPOLIS," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
