This Rio de Janeiro watercolor print shows Sugarloaf Mountain rising over Botafogo Bay, with the small figure of Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado in the upper left. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Rio de Janeiro, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
The bay is washed in clear turquoise with bare paper boat reflections, and the Sugarloaf rock is tinted grey-gold with fine ink lines. Teal bay water, olive hills and palms and white apartment blocks form the palette, with coral flowers, tile roofs and granite grey-gold as accents. Sugarloaf stands right of center, its peak reaching into the upper part, with cable car lines running to a smaller hill. The curved beach of Botafogo and white buildings fill the middle ground, while tile roofs, royal palms and a red-orange flowering tree make up the foreground. Long orange-red and blue drips and multicolor splatters fade the edges into a white paper border in summer. "RIO DE JANEIRO" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Cable car cabins. Small cabins hang on the line between the peaks.
- Sailboats at anchor. White sailboats sit moored across the calm bay.
- Royal palms. Tall palms rise above the rooftops in the foreground.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Teal, olive and coral make it a lively fit for a living room, a bright bedroom or a tropical-themed bar corner. Give it to a friend from Brazil or as a reminder of a beach trip to Rio.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Rio de Janeiro? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Botafogo Bay and Sugarloaf. The smaller hill linked by the cable car may sit differently than in real life, and some details are simplified.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "RIO DE JANEIRO," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
