This Quito watercolor print shows the twin spires of the Basílica del Voto Nacional rising above the red tile roofs of Quito Old Town, with Pichincha volcano behind. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Quito, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
The gray stone basilica is drawn with dense, fine ink lines for its spires, clock faces and rose window. Terracotta roofs are built up in several orange-red layers, and Pichincha fades into soft blue-violet. Tile orange-red, cool basilica gray and whitewashed walls lead the palette, with eucalyptus green trees and red balcony flowers as accents. The basilica stands left of center and reaches into the upper third, a white domed church sits to the right, and houses climb the volcano's slopes behind. Colonial roofs, wooden balconies and a square with a stone fountain and palms fill the foreground in clear, dry Andean sunshine. "QUITO" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Clock-faced spires. The basilica's twin towers carry detailed clocks and pointed tops.
- Poncho and felt hat. A figure in a poncho and felt hat crosses the plaza among pigeons.
- Red balcony blooms. Pots of red flowers brighten the old wooden balconies.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Its terracotta and stone tones look at home in a living room with warm woods, a hallway gallery or a den with earthy textiles. Give it to someone who lived in Ecuador, or pair it with other Andes prints for a travel wall.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Quito? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Quito Old Town in watercolor and ink, not a precise view of its streets.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "QUITO," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
