This Queenstown watercolor print shows the snowy peaks of the Remarkables above Lake Wakatipu, seen from high on the hill where the Skyline Gondola runs down to town. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Queenstown, not an exact view of the town.
About the artwork
The lake is laid in clear turquoise washes with soft mountain reflections, and fine ink lines pick out rooftops and the jagged ridgeline. Dark green pines in the foreground break into dabbed color, with a drip running down the lower left. The palette is glacial turquoise, purple-grey rock, snow white and deep pine, with small hits of orange and red. The view looks down from the hilltop: the Remarkables stretch across the upper right, the lake and a wooded peninsula fill the middle, and gondola cabins ride the cable through the pines in front. Snow caps the peaks while a few trees still hold gold leaves, suggesting late fall or early winter. "QUEENSTOWN" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Vintage lake steamer. The TSS Earnslaw, white with a red funnel, trails smoke across the lake.
- Paraglider overhead. A single orange paraglider drifts through the open sky.
- Gondola cabins. Skyline Gondola cars descend the cable line through the pines.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Cool turquoise, slate and pine green fit a bedroom, a mountain-style living room or a quiet office. It is a good gift for a skier, a hiker or a couple who honeymooned in New Zealand.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Queenstown? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Queenstown seen from above. Some details are simplified, and the season reads as late fall rather than deep winter.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "QUEENSTOWN," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
