This Hobart watercolor print shows kunanyi/Mount Wellington with its Organ Pipes cliffs above the sandstone streets and the docks of Sullivans Cove. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Hobart, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
The dolerite cliffs are drawn as parallel vertical strokes of blue-gray and violet, with fresh snow left as bare paper. White mist wraps the mountain's flanks, the warehouses glow in honey sandstone, and the dock water carries horizontal reflections. Slate blue-gray, honey stone and harbor blue form the palette, with red and deep blue fishing boats as accents. The flat-topped mountain spans the upper part of the print, Georgian stone warehouses and two church spires fill the middle, and a stone wharf with bollards and gulls runs across the front of Constitution Dock. Early winter snow dusts the summit while some trees still hold gold and orange leaves. "HOBART" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Snowy summit. Fresh snow and drifting mist crown the mountain's cliffs.
- Working waterfront. Fishing boats, crab pots and bollards fill the dock.
- Gulls on the wharf. Seagulls perch on mooring posts while people eat on a bench.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Cool blue-gray with warm sandstone fits a cozy den, a cabin-style living room or a hallway. A thoughtful gift for a Tasmanian or someone who loves cool-climate harbors.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Hobart? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Hobart's waterfront and kunanyi/Mount Wellington, arranged to fit the mountain and the docks into one frame.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "HOBART," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
