This Ottawa watercolor print shows the Peace Tower on Parliament Hill above the stepped Rideau Canal locks, with red and white tulips in bloom. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Ottawa, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
The sandstone Peace Tower is washed in cream-yellow, with fine ink lines on its pointed windows and clock face under a copper-green spire. Tulips are layered strokes of red, orange and white, and the river and canal are blue with soft reflections. Copper green, sandstone yellow and fresh spring greens lead the palette, with red and white tulips and the red of the Canadian flag as accents. The tower and its flag stand right of center, the Centre Block and the round Library of Parliament sit to the left, and the Ottawa River with a steel bridge lies beyond. The canal locks step down through the foreground with a tour boat, beside a slope of tulips, all in mid-spring. "OTTAWA" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Tulip season. Red, orange and white tulips slope down beside the canal.
- Stepped canal locks. A small tour boat waits in the locks below the hill.
- Riverside path. Cyclists and walkers pass old lamps while gulls fly overhead.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Green, red and cream suit a home office, a living room or an entryway with classic wood furniture. Give it to someone who has lived in the capital, or as a Canada Day or tulip-season gift.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Ottawa? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Parliament Hill and the canal. A few details, such as roof colors, are simplified or changed in the painting.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "OTTAWA," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
