A Petra travel poster framed by the Siq, the narrow gorge that opens onto the Treasury. Two walls of sandstone press in from left and right in deep navy shadow, and between them the carved facade stands lit in rose and coral, its columns, pediment and urn catching the sun above a bright sandy floor.
About the artwork
This is the strongest contrast in the collection, built almost entirely from two temperatures: a scorched range of vermilion, coral and salmon for the sunlit rock, and an inky navy-to-indigo for the walls in shade. Rock strata are drawn as long tapering strokes that follow the curve of the cliff, giving the stone a brushed, almost woodgrain feel. Only a small triangle of pale blue sky shows at the top. The Treasury itself is kept small in the frame so the canyon dominates. The lettering reads PETRA above JORDAN.
Why you'll love it
- Archival fine art paper or gallery-wrapped matte canvas, pigment inks
- Thirteen sizes, 8 x 12 up to 30 x 40 inches, plus A4 to A1
- Framed canvas ready to hang in four wood finishes
- Deep navy shadow and hot coral rock give it real presence on a dark wall
Where it works at home
Because so much of the surface is deep navy, this print holds its own on a dark or strongly coloured wall where paler artwork would disappear. It suits a study, a snug or a dining room in charcoal, forest green or plum, and the warm centre glow reads well under a picture light.
Sizes and materials
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Thirteen sizes are available, from 8 x 12 inches up to a 30 x 40 inch statement piece, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. Every piece is made to order.
Shipping and care
Each piece is printed and finished after the order is placed, then shipped in protective packaging — paper prints rolled in a rigid tube, canvas and framed canvas boxed with corner guards. Keep the artwork out of direct sunlight and wipe framed canvas with a dry, soft cloth. Paper prints are best handled by the edges until they are framed.
Questions
Which material should I choose? Paper is the most affordable option and lets you pick your own frame. Matte canvas adds depth and needs no glass. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang and is the usual choice for a feature wall.
Will the colours match what I see on screen? Printing is colour-managed, so the artwork stays very close to the preview. Paper reads slightly softer than canvas, which holds a touch more contrast.
Why is so much of the print in shadow? The view is taken from inside the Siq looking out, so the gorge walls stay in deep shade and frame the lit facade between them. That contrast is the point of the composition rather than a printing effect.
