How our gallery wall sets work
A gallery wall is the part of decorating that people put off longest, because it asks for a dozen decisions at once: which prints, what sizes, how many, and whether they will look like they belong together. Every set on this page has already made those decisions. The prints come from the same series or share the same colors, the sizes are chosen to hang as one group, and the photo shows them on a real wall so you can judge the scale before you buy.
Nothing is locked. On each set you can change the size or material of any single print, from paper posters to framed canvas, or drop a print you don't want. The total updates as you go, and the set discount applies to whatever you keep: 7% off two prints, 10% off three or more. Every print is made to order, and shipping is free across the US.
Choosing a gallery wall for your room
Above a sofa. Aim for artwork about two thirds of the sofa's width. On a standard 84-inch three-seat sofa that is roughly 56 inches, which is why a set of three 16 × 24 in prints, or a larger grid, fills the wall better than a single piece. Leave 6 to 10 inches between the top of the sofa and the bottom of the frames.
Above a bed. Keep the whole set narrower than the headboard. A pair of 18 × 24 in prints suits a queen bed; a king takes two 24 × 36 in or three 20 × 30 in.
Hallways and stairs. Narrow walls reward smaller prints hung close together. A vertical stack of 12 × 16 in prints, or a run that follows the slope of the stairs, works harder than one large piece nobody can step back far enough to see.
For every size drawn to scale, see the size guide.
Mixing sizes in one wall
The sets with five or more prints usually mix sizes on purpose: one larger anchor print, often 24 × 36 in, with smaller 12 × 16 in or 18 × 24 in prints around it. The anchor gives the eye somewhere to land; the smaller prints fill the shape out. If you change sizes on a set, keep one clear anchor and keep the rest in no more than two sizes, and the wall will still read as planned.
Hanging a set without the guesswork
- Treat the whole set as one rectangle and hang its center 57 to 60 inches from the floor, the same height as a single print.
- Leave 2 to 3 inches between frames, and keep every gap the same.
- Before you drill, cut paper to the size of each print and tape the layout to the wall for a day.
