A seafood wall art print: an open sardine tin with its lid rolled back, drawn in a single red ink on blush pink under SARDINES Portugal.
About the artwork
One ink, one strong idea. The scales are built entirely from dense arcs of small dots rather than lines, which gives the fish a texture the rest of the drawing does not have. The rolled-back lid becomes a thick horizontal band across the middle of the tin and still has the winding key attached at its left edge. Four fish stand upright in the open half; printed across the curled lid are two more fish lying flat with a lemon slice and a few peppers. The type sits in the lower third — one line in wide capitals, one in script.
Why you'll love it
- Scales made of dots. A texture worth standing close to.
- Tinned fish, drawn properly. Key, curl and all.
- One ink on blush. Softer than the usual navy seafood print.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The dotted scales disappear below about 16 x 24, so give this one a decent size and a wall people pass close to — a kitchen, a pantry, a narrow hallway. Blush pink reads as a warm neutral against white, terracotta and pale green. Natural wood frames suit it; black tightens the loose lettering if the room is soft.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What does it say? SARDINES in capitals and Portugal in script, with printed lettering on the tin itself.
How many fish are there? Four standing in the open tin, plus two printed on the rolled lid.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
